Directions and transport to and from Lains BarnBy carLains Barn is on the A417, just east of Wantage, and is best reached via the A34. From the M40, exit at Junction 9 onto the A34 South, signed towards Oxford and Newbury; or
Then, from the A34, exit at the Milton interchange, which is signed towards Didcot and Wantage, and also for the Didcot Railway Museum. Please note that there are several junctions signed to Wantage from the A34. Make sure that you only turn off at the Milton interchange, which is signed for "Milton, Chilton, Didcot and Wantage, A4130". At the roundabout, head towards Steventon, Harwell and Wantage on the A4130. Heading North from the M4, this is the first exit. Heading South from Oxford, this is the last exit. Continue along the A4130 for several miles, continuing past the turn off for Steventon village, until you reach a small roundabout (known locally as 'Rowstock roundabout') with a garage on it. Turn right, onto the A417 to Wantage. Continue along the A417 through the village of East Hendred, and past signs for Ardington village. The Barn is situated down a track (Grove Park Drive), just after the signs for Ardington and just before Wantage. Turn off onto the track which is on the right hand side of the road. It is signposted from the road, but it’s quite a small sign. You can find more directions and a map at:
By public transportDidcot, which is east of Wantage, is on the London-Oxford railway line - see www.thetrainline.com for train times. Therefore an option is to get the train to Didcot and a taxi from Didcot station. There are 24-hour coaches between Oxford and London - see www.oxfordbus.co.uk and www.stagecoach-oxford.co.uk. Stagecoach operate regular buses between Oxford city centre and Wantage - see www.stagecoach-oxford.co.uk/bustimes and look for services 31 and X31, or call them on 01865 772250.
